As above, I need to be at Gatwick for 10:30ish tomorrow for a sales conference. What's the best route to take. I'll be in the TVR, so as little stop start traffic as possible or my clutch leg will start to hurt!!

Hi Dan,
When we go to Gatwick from Hayling it's always along to Chichester, up to Billingshurst on A29 then follow the signs, usually a decent run and nice TVR roads - once chased a DB5 almost the entire route - great fun!

Was at The Mayflower Saturday was going to see if you were around and have a look at some boats but ran out of time frown

Up the A3, through the Hindhead tunnel (Windows Down) on to the M25 across to the M23 and down to Gatwick. A bit further but certainly fewer gear changes.
Leave at 0900 so all the commuter traffic will have died down.

The A27 through Chichester an up the A29 to the M23 is a decent route.

Proper men don't ask directions Dantongue out

But.......if you just want to get there it'd be M3. M25 for you, if you want a roof down fun drive then it's the Chi, Billingshurst route,

Thanks, I didn't say where I'd be travelling from, but I assume you know! I'll be heading from Lymington, just trying to avoid any carpark motorways!

Asking directions........ rolleyes

The most direct is M3 to Winchester, A31 to Guildford, M25 and M23, you'll miss the top end of M3. Plenty of roundabouts and more interesting than M3. But more gear changes..........

Well the thread paid off. I'd never heard of the A29 but it's a superb road with beautiful views across the South Downs. I went A27 and then A29 on the way. On the return journey I headed over to Fernhurst TVR to say hello, then went back cross country over the A272 past West Meon. So much more enjoyable than the motorways, so thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely do the route again. And despite pushing on, I barely used any fuel, nearly twice the mileage from this tank compared to last weeks!

Great weather today too, roof off all day!

It always used to be at Excel. Nightmare place to get to. The French like to fly in and use an airport hotel so we don't get much choice.
