Decent MoT Garage in Southampton Area

Hi all,

My car's due for an MoT, and to be honest I don't trust the Kwik Fit lot further than I can throw them.

I'm based in the Southampton area, can anybody recommend a fair, respectable MoT garage that I can trust?

I'm not looking for a 'friendly' MoT, just a garage that I can trust and preferably isn't too far from Shirley.

There are a couple in Shirley that are OK - Cawte, CVTS, Shirley Garage Services.

TBH, I've found the Halfords centres to be absolutely brilliant - been using them for the last 3-4 years as they always seem to have a half price offer on.

Halfords are vastly overpriced if you need work done, they gave me a 2k advisory quote on my old touran, my mate sorted the advisories & MOT'd it for 200 then bought it off me a month later.

E&J Jarvis in St. Mary's St, Bevois Valley. Very long established and with a top reputation. My Chimaera goes there every year and they are always a pleasure to deal with.

Dial an MOT in Shirley. You won't find a cleaner, more honest place than that.

My Elise failed MOT on emissions, they tried the o2 valve, but as that didn't work, they didn't charge me for it. Needed a new cat in the end. They supplied and fitted one cheaper than I could find the part anywhere, and less than half the price a well respected Lotus garage in Salisbury quoted me.

Been very impressed with other jobs they've done for me too - welded a door handle bracket up instead of getting a replacement part at over £100, for instance.

Go see Ken at Browdon Motors just off Shirley High Street, you know the corner where County Locksmiths is? Its down that side road.

I always rated Malmesbury Road Motors Shirley, in Malmesbury Road unsurprisingly!

I always use MOT only in Park Rd off of Millbrook road in Freemantle.

I feel obliged to recommend Bruce at Westland motors. You won't find a more honest garage.
