Daylight running lights
Discussion
Don't start pulling fuses, you'll unleash a whole world of trouble which will cost you dearly in the long run.
There's a monthly Volvo meet at the Vine inn in Ower, just off J2 on the M27 and there's a chap who usually shows up with the correct software/hardware (known as Dice Vida) who should be able to turn the DRLs off for you.
Alternatively, try calling a local stealer and ask how much it'll cost - usually between £20 and £40, I've even heard of some stealerships doing it for free.

Thanks for thst. Do you know when the next meet is?
July the 27th I believe. Have a look at www.vpcuk.org, the thread will pop up about a week before.oblark said:
I think you`ll find that you can`t turn the DRL off as it`s a legal obligation to have them on.
Mornin' Rob
Afaik, the DRL is a dealer option, you can spec the car to run them or not (hence mine has them off) and by default, they're sold with the DRLs on.
Some of the German brands give you a dashboard option to dim them or turn them off all together.

I thought you going on about the led DRL not the head lights, my mistake

Think it's only the really new XC90 that has the LED jobbies but even so, I think they can be specced at the dealer. It's when you hacking up some wiring (for example) to disable what could be conceived to be a safety feature, you can get yourself in hot water (as far as I'm aware)

If you notice all new cars have the led DRL, it`s a EU law that states that all cars most have them."European legislation adopted in 2008 required dedicated daytime running lights (DRL) to be fitted to all new 'types' of passenger cars and small delivery vans since February 2011. Trucks and buses followed from August 2012."
Something volvo started doung back in the mid 80`s

Didn't know that, will make a mental note to not bother with Volvo if they are that highly strung
The newer ones are a bit more forgiving but if you accidentally pull a fuse (there's loads of fuses in these things - 3 fuse boards) that does something to do with the SRS system, Speedo, CEM, BCM, etc. it can throw SRS/ABS warnings as well as a host of internal DTCs that can't usually be read on a generic code reader. A dealer will charge between £60 and £80 to reset the SRS warning. The car will still run fine (usually) but there'll be a few lights and warnings on the dash that don't go away and they're quite annoying.
