How much do the local PH collective think it would cost to have one of an external tumble dryer vent fitted - tumble dryer is in the kitchen and up against the outside wall.

Don't fancy drilling a giant hole myself!

The parts themselves look nice and cheap so guessing it's just the costs of a dude with a drill? Any recommendations?

Not too much I would have thought. Don't do what the idiot previous owner of my house did and take a sledge hammer to the breeze block and smash it. Cold utility room in the winter? Just a bit! Unfortunately it's virtually impossible to sort properly as they then fitted the kitchen cabinets in front of it.

And that's why I want someone to do it properly - I'll end up with a swiss cheese wall!

Thought about a condenser dryer? They're a hell of a lot better than they used to be and no gaping hole to drill.

I've gote some holes you can have. Let me know what sort of size are you looking for and I'll have a look when I get home...

It's a simple job, the local tool hire company will have all you need. A 10mm pilot hole. Then core through. A few simple brown plugs to hold the external vent fascia on. Simples.

/\/\/\/\ - This. An SDS Maxi Hilti or equivlent and Core Cutter of the correct diameter. All hired from HSS or somewhere similar for a Saturday morning. Unless you have an old house with really hard bricks it will work a treat. Just make the obvious checks for cables, pipes etc an measure twice wink

Did exactly what you need to do to my house a few weeks ago, albeit for a cat flap rather thank a dryer. Diamond tipped core borer hired for about £20 and it ate through a cavity wall without breaking a sweat! They give you a pilot drill with it, just take the pilot drill out once the core borer is a few mm into the wall.

If you're anywhere near Hedge End-ish area, I have an SDS+ drill thst you are welcome to borrow. It's like a baby pneumatic drill - great fun smile
