Hi Everyone

I'm a PH'r moving down from West London to Southampton next week!!! Will be living in the Woolston area. I have family down on the Isle Of Wight so I'm moving partly to be closer to them and partly because I just like the area!!

Are there any other PH'ers around me?? Also is anyone going to Goodwood FOS next Friday??

Hi Tony, Woolston you say..Ohhh, cor, you're brave. The Bridge pub is Ok as long as you don't make eye contactpunch, the indian a couple of doors down is excellent, pop over the other side of itchen bridge for good pubs.

I kid really, not too bad a place to be these days, at least you didn't move to Portsmouth.whistle (awaits the verbal kicking)

Woolston isn't so bad, it's not as rough as St Marys. I'm a PH'er and I'm off to the FOS for all 3 days woohoo welcome along by the way.

I'm not at the FoS unfortunately frown

I'll second Southampton over Portsmouth, but that's like choosing Death by Drowning over Death by Fire.

Thanks for all the welcomes!! I'm just looking forward to getting moved down now. Finish work here on Tuesday next week and move down on the Wednesday.

If anyone fancies meeting up at the FOS drop me an e mail and I'll let you have my number. I've got a Pug 309 GTi Goodwood edition so thats rather appropriate really, keep an eye out for me round the area. Doubt there are many more of those on the roads round there!

Have a couple of bits that still need doing on the 309, wheels refurbed and some dents removed. Will wait until I've moved though and a bit more settled before I get that all done.

I'll keep an eye out once I'm down there, and yup sounds like a good plan at some point. I'll get her tidied up first though, get the wheels sorted etc. Other than that she's a real minter with only 35k on the clock from new !!

p.s. anyone know any good wheel refurbishers round the area?? Want a top job done on them though.

I've lived and worked in Woolston for a while and I find it fine. I live at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and have never had a problem. Depends where you are moving to I guess.

We are supposed to be getting this new development soon, but we'll see.

Anything you want to know ask away.

Best pub IMO is The Swan used to be a right dump full of druggie Hell's Angels types, but they all got barred a few years back and the pub had an extensive tart up last year. Not the cheapest, but live music 4 days a week, some crap - some good. Unfortunately it still has some of it's old bad reputation, mainly from folk that never drink there of course...

I'm not keen on the Bridge as it's a Saints footie fan pub. Plus any out of city centre boozer that needs bouncers on the door is never going to become my local haunt (as I'm rubbish at fighting...).

The Obelisk - chavtastic.
The Millers Pond - like a morgue.
The Victoria - only been there once, packed with scary looking blokes.
The Ship - Not been there for a while as it's a long stroll.
The Grove - Not nicknamed 'The Grave' for nothing.

As you can see - pubs I can help with drink, garden centres and shopping - you're on your own hehe
