I'm after a decent body shop in the Southampton area to sort some repairs out on a Golf GTi Mk11. The rot has been at it around the "spare" wiper mount at the base of the screen and around the fuel filler, both common problems I think on this model. Is there anybody around here that does that type of thing?

Try Jarvis in Beovis Valley.
A few years ago I had to get a new tailgate fitted to the wifes car after a botched insurance job. Jarvis were the only garage to spot that the paint would not properly match as one side of the car had already been re-sprayed.
They then mixed up two lots of paint, one to match each side of the car and graduated the change across the tailgate.
Ian Jarvis is a top bloke, Jarvis's are an honest garage with good specialist bodyshop facilities.

Steer clear of BP Rolls in first avenue. They are the muppets that botched the insurance repair.

Premier car body repairs, Portsmouth Road, Woolston. Just behind where the dodgy Shell garage used to be.

Speak to Colin, he's a legend smile

yes I have no idea why insurance companies continue to use these cowboys. Some sort of scam going on? They're certainly far from acceptable.

I had the same thing with seward body shop in lyndhurst. The car had to go back 4 to 5 times and the job was still not right. All they had to do was fit and paint a new rear bumper. I told my insurance company(which i would never go with again) and all they said yes we have had lots of complaints and we will talk to them.

Having worked for body shops in Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester, i'd definately take my car to ERB Motors in Portsmouth.

It's a small/medium family run business, not a 'supermarket' style repair centre.

It's the choice of bodyshop for most of the south coast's insurance engineers if they have something nice the don't want the approved repairer to fk up!

Again, thanks for the advice, chaps. The car's SORNED at the moment but when the weather gets better it should be back on the road again.

+1 for Triangle, my son used to work there and he is a real perfectionist. Maybe a little bit dearer than the others but quality second to none.
