Chaps,

I've realised that lately alot of us are in need of services or a product & more often than not someone here can point us in the right direction on near enough anything.

But it's occured to me lately that occasionally I'm in need of a service where I'd rather give the business to a PH'er if I can! (Thank you Paul!)

I imagine some won't be as forthcoming on this as others, regardless as I'm posting, I should lead by example!

Glass balustrading (for balconies/terraces/stairs/pools/french doors/patios) & architectural glazing (Curved doors & windows) - Largely deal with refurb & new build projects & spend my days chatting to builders/developers/architects/well to do private clients on projects all over the UK & abroad.

Next! yes

UPDATE - I've added a wiki page, so you can add your own entry saying exactly what you do!

thumbup Great idea for a thread Ironic!

I am probably no use either, but I work as a Business Analyst and do some consultancy as well. In a nutshell, I look at business processes, how a company works and what it wants to achieve and help them streamline how they work in order to achieve greater productivity and savings. My ethos is to be absolutely bullst and jargon free, there is no 'smoke and mirrors' or thousands of pounds just for useless but pretty reports smile

I replied on a thread in the Business subforum in some detail about how I work, and should anyone be desperately bored and want to know I can dig it out.

I'm quite happy to offer simple advice or a sounding board for PHers via email (no charge! smile ). I wrote a very detailed explanation for the OP of the above-mentioned thread and recommended he do the business improvement work himself with some training as his requirements were straightforward enough not to need consultancy. I am not into hard sell and do have a day job to keep me occupied!

Good idea, but maybe a list/table would be better.

I'm an Industrial Manager (buzz word). Basically a Manufacturing Engineer but responsible for manufacturing, procurement, planning and ultimately delivering the project on time and cost.

We build Satellites (electro/mechanical manufacturing), not much help to anyone.

Later this year we may well be letting people go so if anyone is looking for someone like this soon then please let me know wink

After 10 years in the Royal Marines i was offered a job i couldnt really refuse (Mrs said, 'if you get shot once more then i'm leaving you!!' This was after my second wounding). I am now a Jeweller / Goldsmith working in Bournemouth. Working with the father-in-law I repair, design and manufacture all items of Jewellery. We work for many of the big names on the south coast.....J.Franses & Son, Michael Mathews, Allum & Sidaway, Westover etc. So if you are in need of something special for valentines day then drop me line for a fee estimate / quote. Or if you need someone 'knocking off' or 'sorting' then im pretty experienced in that trade too. lol.

P.S We currently have a stock clearance on due to cabinet refurbishment so we have some good deals on rings if you are interested.

Are you able to service watches? Or do you have recommendations on who down on the South Coast is worth using/speaking to?

I have a fleet of watches that probably cost more than my car to keep running! wink

O/T When did you leave the Marines? My cousin was an RM Commando up until 2/3 years ago.

I am a .NET programmer (VB & C#) and technical analyst, and have almost a decade's experience in the defence industry designing and writing systems for the MOD.

I also repair computers in my spare time for a hobby. Can install any new hardware or operating system, and offer a service for twenty quid where I come & collect the machine, take it home and clean all nasties off it, defrag it, give it a good physical clean inside and out, tell you what you could do to speed it up, and drop it back the next day.

I left in Feb 08 so i may know him. Where was he based?

Unfortunatley we don't service watches but i know a man who can. Try Fox's, Bournemouth. They deal in many high end models and as far as i know offer a sound servicing package. We have our own watchmaker on the books but the details are in the office so i'll try to remember to get them for you tommorrow.

As far as I remember, he was based at Plymouth (he served with 42 for a while). I'll drop him a text and ask.

I've just had a quick Google of Fox's, I've been in there for a browse before. I may give them a quick buzz. Ideally I want a quick turn around (relatively, as I'm considering selling) on one of my watches (another, possibly...) and don't want it going back to Switzerland for 2 months or whatever Omega quote these days!

Don't worry, won't bother speaking to them for a few days. Would rather drop the watch off in person and can't make it down to Bournemouth for a while!
Oh and PM sent. smile
