I've got two cars I need to MOT next month and being still fairly new to the area, I need to find somewhere I can trust to do an MOT and not rip me off with unnecessary work.

Both cars will need stuff doing, minor things like handbrake cable adjust and the like. Hopefully nothing too major.

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy garage that can MOT/Fix any problems found? Preferably in or close to Woolston.

Mamy thanks

It is a bit of a drive but I have just had my wagon done at the drive in MOT place in Harts Farm Way in Havant. It is fairly new and the owner has been in the car maintenance business all his life. He retired and openned this place so he could still have something to do with his time when he fancied it.

The young lad that runs it day to day is very professional and helpful and they have done a fair few of my families cars too. All have passed first time without any annoying minor issues like some places come up with. It is also only £35, which made me think they would make up for that with loads of made up work. This was not the case. Couldnt have been more impressed.

My friend and fellow PH'er does MOT's at his garage in New Milton. Bit of a drive, but then you won't get sharked at all. You might even get tea.

My friend has a garage down in Woolston called Woolston Auto Engineering, they are based down the bottom of Spitfire Quay in Wilments Ship Yard.

I have used this place for the last few years. Very honest - all have passed every time - and often allow me to have last minute appointments, drunk

Mr Wedge, it's a trek i know but my local garage are trustworthy & know one of the cars in question - probems is though, Sixpenny Handley isn't local - however if you booked in on a saturday you could pop round & have a coffee & i could meet up with the 21 again - plus i may well have my next phase one by then....

Thanks for all your help with this folks...

In the end I've got it booked in with William Street Services here in Southampton. I've heard good things about them too so thought I'd give them a go.

Jonboy21t - As much as I would have liked to take it back there, if it needs any work doing (hopefully not) then I'd be a bit stuck if I had to leave it there. I'm fairly sure she'll go through fine but you never know with older cars. I've done as much as I can now to get her ready.

It would be good to get together though at some point as you're not too far away from me, maybe in the next month or so. Good to see you have another 21T though smile

Thanks everyone for your help....

My 21 Turbo now has a brand new MOT, I would recommend William Street Services to anyone. They've been great to deal with and the couple of things that needed doing were done quickly and very well. I'll certainly be going back there in the future thumbup

Aye Williams Street are good, had my Williams there twice for MOT. Some nice cars there sometimes too.
