Any suggestions? Would be much appreciated, don't want to leave my car with some cowboys.

I've used the nattily named 'Mr MOT' on Eastern Road (Kemp Town) a couple of times. Seem a decent and honest outfit smile

Worthing's only down the road I'd be interested to hear of any good ones!

For many years when I worked in Hove (and could park there) I took my cars to Howard Motors in Howard Terrace (up New England Road towards Seven Dials, over the line to Hove and turn right opposite the pub (still the Shakespeare?). Cramped little place, if it is still going, but has full MOT facilities. And they take plastic.

Just had a look in Yellow pages and it's still in there B.702200.

Just MOT's. Near Homebase on the A270. Any probs take it elsewhere so you're less likely to be shafted on the 'need' for brakes and disks. For repairs I go to GM Autocare in Montpelier Rd. 2 brothers run this busy garage, decent chaps and always very busy.

smile I use the garage near to my workplace in Shoreham- Perkins & Robins just beside the train station & they are excellent.

If it just an MOT you want, Adur Council based in Shoreham have an MOT test centre in Lancing. They only MOT, no repair work, and being Council are pretty straight & will just do the MOT 'as is' (ie. not start recommending extra work to fund their business). They're hidden away in Lancing Business Park but I have a phone number for them somewhere if you want it.

If you could post it/message it I'd be grateful. I've done a ton of work on the car to get it tip top, I'll eat my hat if it doesn't breeze through...apart from the sodding indicator which is a bit temperamental...

I've never used them but Council MOT test centres are generally recommended. I would only guess that they aren't as amenable to a quick adjustment of something that could be a fail (headlamp angle or whatever) as a garage may be, as they just run the test & won't work on the car.

I've used Just MOTs - as well as the Hove one there's one on Bell Tower Estate (near Roedean Fire Station) which is nearer for you.

It's worth checking which of them has the best offer, I got mine done for £25 with no retest fee.

As earlier posteds said, they don't do repairs so it doesn't matter to them whether it passes or fails.

They re set my out of line headlight for nothing and did their best, based on a leaky exhaust, to get it through the emission test, so I can't complain!

If you want a garage with MOT, I use the one in Patcham village, by the Coop and have never had any complaint. They always seem to be pretty busy so don't need to create work by failing things unnecessarily and will do the repairs if that's what you need.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

In the end I went to Just MOTS down near the marina, on the basis that they had the least to gain by failing it! As it happens they were very complimentary and it passed first time with one advisory - long brake pedal travel - which was caused by the gti-6 front brakes and is due to be rectified soon anyway!

The service itself was brilliant - booked Friday evening online for £34, dropped it off Saturday 12.00 and everything was done by 1.00.

Will definitely use them again, and one of the guys recommended a tyre fitter to fiddle with my tracking which was much appreciated, as quik-sh*t wanted £30 to adjust the track rod ends, because 'it was lowered so messes up the geometry' which I know is a complete pile of bull.
