For the head on shots I used a Canon 70-200 F2.8L series lens. All shots were taken wide open at F2.8 kneeling down at the 200mm end of the lens...

I almost knew you were going to say that!
Out of interest, the IS or non-IS version?
I have the 'cheap' F4 version, absolutely superb bit of kit! I rather want the f2.8 though...

Its the non IS version... I particularly went for the non IS because its reputed to be sharper than the IS version... Well until the MKII IS has recently been released (less to go wrong too!). I'm not worried about the weight. I use a 1D MKIII and it balances superbly on the body.

If you want to have a play with the 2.8 version at a future meet I'm quite happy for you to have a go smile

Interesting, didn't realise there was any real difference in IQ and/or sharpness between the IS/non-IS. That's good for my wallet if I do decide to buy one! wink
The weight was one thing that put me off! Regardless, I think buying the F4 was a great first L-series as it's now made me realise there is a difference between them and 'normal' glass.
Many thanks for the offer, may well take you up on that.

Oh and 1D MkIII, very nice. I'm a very happy (and very amateur!) 40D user. smile

Nice shots 350Wedge. But IS/non IS image quality it just junk that gets sprouted around the internet. Some lenses come out of the factory that are not as good as other, and then you get into the whole problem of a lens that has a back focus problem with a body.

Either are great lenses, but every pro in the F1 paddock I know runs the IS (and every pap too). And you are right, on a EOS 1 body, the balance is perfect! Mine is a bit bashed and battered, and still takes takes great shots.

350Wedge, if you have a hi res shot of my SRT8 I'd appreciate a copy, one of those rare occasions where it was shiny for 10 minutes!
