Looking to spend £2500-3000 on a MkIV Golf, either a GTi-T or V5. Lower mileage preferred over newer year. Tried Autotrader, PH classifieds and the MkIV forums and whilst there's plenty around within budget they're all well out of area.

Anywhere else I'm missing other than a good-old drive around local dealers in 30deg heat with 2 kids in tow?

Get in touch with Haggy (Mike) to source one for you, I'd imagine he'd love to help a PH'er on this sort of thing!

Andy there was a Golf V5 advertised in JKM (think it might be a customer car) when i was down there last week, can't remember price/spec but might be worth giving them a ring as its fairly local to you.

Thanks so far guys.

Now found a Bora and Golf to view. Golf looks the better buy although 10k higher miles and quite a bit more money.

Luke - JKM?

Ah, JKM, just looked them up. Can't help with a car atm but useful to know they're right on my doorstep.

Id also have a look about for both the Seat Leon Cupra and Octavia VRS both good value for money cars with the Golf GTI 180hp engine.

So would I.

Unfortunately MrsWhyNot won't entertain either, although I'm still working on the Leon (Octavia's a lost cause given the number of Skoda taxis around town)

Nice looking Leon for sale but thinking practically it's a tax band higher for RFL, 17" wheels vs the Golf's 16s and likely to depreciate quicker. Plus side is 30bhp more, six speed and 5drs.

Any thoughts?

Haven't been on the forum for some time, but www.swdubs.co.uk used to be a good place.

Good luck.
