Hi all,

As some of you know, my beloved sister Jane has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Although it is an aggressive form of this particularly vicious disease, it has, thankfully, been caught early. It is at an early stage and the prognosis is very promising. She is being treated with Chemo, and whilst this is quite rotten, it certainly trumps the alternative with its inevitable consequence.

One of the side-effects is that all her hair is going to fall out. Now my big sis has always been keen to be in control of everything around her, and so if she is going to lose her hair, she will do it on her terms and no one else's! So, this coming Friday (9th July) she and her husband Mike are going to shave their heads to raise money for the Worthing Hospital CT Scanner appeal - at the moment they have one scanner and the waiting time is nearly two weeks, so they desperately need another to reduce the time that patients needing scans have to wait. The target of a couple of hundred quid is already passed, and my aim with this e mail is to give the appeal a push towards a thousand. This will help the Hospital towards the million they need. If you'd like to help, then you can donate online at this site...

Or if you fancy a trip to darkest West Sussex, the scalping will take place at the Henty Arms, in Ferring, on Friday 9th July at 7.30pm

I know times are hard at the moment, but any donation, however small, will make such a difference to the fight against this nasty, pernicious disease. What I do know is that my sister, with the help of a wonderful oncology department and some really good friends, is going to bh-slap this little bugger into extinction.

Health warning - 126 people (and they aren't all women!) are diagnosed with breast cancer every day - make sure you check regularly for any changes and get them checked out quick!

Many thanks for your time
