Well, what exactly do you expect? There are plenty of companies out there that rent out nice cars, why not use one of them? By posting on here gives the distinct impression that you want a freebie or a cheapie. Why else would you post here?Peter101 said:

Once you stop throwing your toys out of the pram and cease sulking, you'll realise that this is probably one of the best and diverse car forums around. Look at it from the other side of the fence. If you had a £100k+ pride and joy, how willing would you be to do a run for somebody you have no clue about, no previous form on (even on the forum)when the risk falls entirely upon the car owner? There have been too many zero post people asking the same question as you sadly.People on here are willing to help other members out in some ways which can be quite selfless and humbling, but be reasonable about your expectations. We are a friendly bunch, (also relentless p@sstaking comes as a par for the norm). You seem to be into your cars,so stick around and see how it works and this forum will make your life complete( OK, that bit may be BS!)
Sadly I have to agree. I'm a member of numerous online groups and it's not at all uncommon for word to get around that there's a fantastic website where they give away free rides, flights, computers, all kinds of stuff ... Next thing you know there's perfectly well off spongers signing up asking for people to give them anything they demand just because they were told there were a bunch of generous knowledgeable people on a website who were happy to help out and share with other like minded folk. Well that is indeed the case but you'll find that people don't like being taken advantage of and we expect others to join in the community we have before they start taking and when they do take it's only decent that they give something back too.
I've given god knows how many people free rides (probably well over a hundred now) and it's great fun doing it. I get enjoyment out of sharing an awesome car I'm lucky enough to be able to drive and get to go round some superb race tracks. In doing so people have had some amazing spins, sometimes quite literally. They all say the same thing at the end "Phenomenal!" It's not only given people a buzz (me included) but it's also helped raise not inconsiderate amounts for charities too. It's not a money thing it's a sharing thing. Sure I'd love to give some of your guests a run in a nice car on a very special day. People do this sort of thing all the time but unfortunately it's getting like the prima donna Schools prom thing now. See who can out do who.... If you've got some friends with nice cars I'm sure they'd be delighted to add a little something special to the Happy Couple's day but hey make some friends first. And anyway what's wrong with something like a Moggy Minor? Seriously it was something I was considering for mine recently. The day's about you and your bride, not the car. Enjoy it for the day you tie the knot with the girl you love.
So Dave from Swanage, welcome to Pistonheads Join us car nuts, have some fun, make friends, have a laugh and a joke and who know's you might find someone says 'Hey if you want a nice car for your day I'll be happy to come along and give some of your guests a lift.' From what I've seen of your posts, yo seem a decent guy. You've even offered someone free camping on land you manage which is pretty generous, who else here has offered to help someone out within just a few posts of joining PH? So good on you Dave

Forums are a great in some ways and not so great in others. It's a strange thing in many ways, I've made some great friends on here, I've nearly come to blows with one PHer but that was just a case of mistaken identities and now we are good friends. Recently we've had a lot of people asking and certain PHers have obliged some of these requests and have not been treated appropriately so are rather disheartened with the whole affair. Please don't think you've made enemies because you won't have we're all adults and I'm sure no one here considers you to be this. Please come along to a hoon or any meet.
P.S I keep seeing a dukes of hazzard charger around Bournemouth with ribbons on, that might be a good choice?

Nah stick with it Dave I'm sure you'll find loads of folk here would love to help you out. In fact I've got an idea right off which would I'm sure get loads of brownie points for you and help raise money for a good cause too.
Here it is. You've got a venue where a goodly gathering of motor enthusiasts could meet up quite easily. When you're setting off on this pretty amazing road trip you've got planned invite a load of PHers down to have a meet up. Run a bucket for contributions round and get along some of the families and members of the Services. Give Wave 105 a bell or Fire or 3CRfm etc and you'll have a shed load of people dead keen to show up. Pop along the prom by the BIC just up the hill from Bournemouth Pier on a Sunday afternoon before the event (regular classic car meet venue every Sunday) and mention it to them there too. Pop in to some of the other PH region groups pages on PH and say you're doing this road trip and you could well have one heck of a convoy with you with loads of gatherings for refreshments and buckets to be passed around
Bingo you'll have made loads of mates raised even more money for the cause and got one hell of a lot of good feeling towards you.
Only questions are.... When's the road trip and when's the Wedding?
