VAG Specialist near Portsmouth

Hey chaps,

My mate has a Golf MK4 and the dial cluster died, so he's got another one and the garage fitted it all well and good for him, but the immobiliser keeps kicking in. Apparently the dial cluster needs coded to the car. That's fine, so he booked it in with VW who could do it no problem. Only surprise surprise, when he got there they wouldn't do it, and said he had to buy a new cluster for £315 instead.

So is there any VAG specialists round here that could code the dials to the car? I can't imagine it's much of a job, the garage were going to do it but VW wouldn't tell him the code or some such nonsense

Dan.... What sort of question is that to be asking on a car forum . You know what sort of response you're likely to get and it won't be helpful

Haha, fair one Chrissy, though I thought that I'd be fairly safe since everybody would know what I meant. It's all in the capitalisation you see.
