New year, new start.

Hi all,

Last year I tried to get into doing car photography but unfortunately due to work commitments/needing money to live, I pretty much had to give it up. So this year, since I have less hours at work but a better pay, I can now afford to start doing it again.

Now this is not a tout for work, but a request for a helping hand. Since I haven't used my camera in so long, me and my portfolio are a little out of date! So on that note I am requesting if any PH'ers out there wouldn't mind helping a fellow PH'er out.

So here is the low down....

Times & Dates: I am available Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday to go out.

Cars: Ideally anything weird and wonderful. Interesting colours and funny angels are a plus. A Lamborghini would be a big plus .

Travel: I live in Bournemouth so people in the local area would be best but I am willing to travel a out/meet halfway.

Get down to the scrutineering for the rally at Canford Magna. Plenty of opportunity there. Either that or hand around the longham and kinson area on friday and wait for stuff to drive by. Same goes for saturday. Rather than get the 'on stage' stuff, get on the dual carriagway between stages and get some more impromptue shots.

I'd be interested in coming along and watching/helping if at all possible? I have no intention of going professional so wouldn't ever step on your toes in the future, but I'd like to see what's going on and pick up some tips if that's ok? I just photograph for my own interest/enjoyment.

What time is the scrutineering at? By any chance do you know the routes they take? Never followed the rally before so not quite sure where they go.

My VX220 Turbo is a willing model if you like? Dean Photo is doing a shoot on it next week - but always up for having good shots of my toys and helping a fellow PHer out. Happy to travel down to Bournemouth as I can catch up with friends as well. Let me know if you are interested and we can sort something out.

Scrutineering is all day friday I think. I went in my 205 rally car in 2006 and you can just turn up for a look around.

Not 100% on the routes but the spur road and the dual carriagway from Ferndown is busy between stages.

You prob didn't put them here for crit but a couple of thoughts.

1. 1 doesn't do much for me but like the other two a lot.

Steering wheel shot is missing a 'story' but the angle's really interesting and the light is fantastic.

The one looking down through the grass - aargh, if only the car was framed between taller blades rather than obscured by them. But that's a relatively minor detail; the overall comp is unusual and strong for it, really like the balance of light across the car including the panels that should be in shade - real win there.

Really good to see you've made great progress with your photography (reckon that Lambo set was your turning point), well worth persisting and shooting as often as you can. Good luck!
