Stopped by the police 3 times in 4 days

Last Friday, I had parked up in the Comet/Pets at home car park in Titchfield, as I got out I was approached by 2 traffic cops, they were wondering why I had no front number plate, fair enough really, as its not strictly legal. Anyway, after agreeing that its not really that practical to have one on the front, they started to admire the car, turns out they were two really nice guys. Fast forward now to Monday. Driving out of my road, down another road, a big 4x4 cop car starts following me, in front of me there is a Subaru being driven really badly and speedily, straight over mini roundabouts, no indicating whatsoever, the cop car behind me puts his blue lights on, I think he is going to stop the nutter in front of me, but oh no, he over takes me and pulls me over. Starts talking about my lack of front plate, and how I should drill holes in the bumper, I point out that it is on display in the front windscreen, he doesn't give a damn, he's really being patronising now, I just say, Just give me my £60 fine and let me on my way, he does. So I guess my front plate is gonna have to go back on now.
Move on to the afternoon, my car is due to be picked up by Lambo High Wycombe, I get a call from them, they are lost, they cannot find my road. I ask where they are and say I will go and find them. I drive through the very quiet roads of Whiteley looking, and get another call from the Lorry, at this time I am travelling at about 5mph down an empty road, I am using my phone, which is unusual for me as I never speak on my mobile whilst driving. In my mirror I see a white unmarked focus zoom up behind me, and pull me over. The as it happens very nice female police officer offers me an option, 3 points and a fine, or some kind of rehabilitation course to teach my why it is so bad to use your phone whilst driving. I chose the course. What a day!

Just out of interest Pete, how could she prove you were using your mobile, did she have video evidence or check your call data. Don't get me wrong, I do not condone use of phones while driving, but perhaps you may have mitigating circumstances? Lets face it, watch any of the TV cop programmes and you see cops doing exactly what your being prosecuted for when they are pursuing villains. One law and all that!!!!

Too be honest, I was so miffed about everything that had happened that day, I just held my hand up. I knew I was on the phone, she knew I was. I just took it on the chin. I dont have any fight left in me! I am quite looking forward to going on the course, will be a nice day out! Maybe I will even heckle the chinless sheep that holds it.(No offence meant James if your reading this LOL)
I might even take a covert video camera and record it for the south coasts amusement.
A real arse of a week Pete, I don't condone phone use in the car, but you're hardly one of these stupid bints in their X5's on the school run, driving with neither due care nor attention.
As for the number plate, super strong velcro?
On the subject of the Police, I've seen two this week with headlamps out, the first one was a Focus Panda car round town it can be difficult to tell. The second however was a BMW traffic car, I kind of expected better, especially considering it would have a bulb failure warning on the display. Do Police cars carry spare bulbs?

I'm just gonna stick the plate back on, less grief that way. I have been without front plate for several months now, never been pulled up to now. What really pissed me off though is the way the copper ignored the guy in the Subaru who's driving was bloody awful, to pull me over. The good news is that Lambo High Wycombe are gonna sort out my cars transmission problems which has been extremely worrying, free of charge, so that has made me feel a little better! I was at the brink of just getting rid of the Lambo, and buying somthing sensible that I can afford, like a smart car!
arghh....thats a really rotton run, but dont get rid of the car! or if you do at least get one with scissor doors instead...or you could go for your nemesis and drive around like a lunatic in a Subaru without fear of getting stopped?...Had a few scoobs and only been stopped once for.....no front numberplate would you believe, this was fairly recently on the first day I had the car as well- wonder if there is clampdown going on for this crime against the nation? All the best
OK we know plates on bikes are an elf n' safety thingy, but if they don't need one, why do cars need one? not logical me thinks.
Maybe inbetween stopping cars with missing front plates, they could stop all those bozo's with defective lights, and all those cars which seem not to have indicators
AND those with a zillion watts for a headlamp.

Hi Buddy, I am attending a course on 24th at Eastleigh and why not join me....I guess the police have to enforce the law and it is just bad luck for you. I have noticed a higher presence in the areas and I was done for 47 on Titchfield Hill by the mobile van, I should have been wiser, but hey ho....

is your's an import Pete? apparently... import cars don't have to a plate as big as the standard size, so get one the size of a stamp and get licking! don't know whether cops get confused (stripes and unusual shape) looking at mine or just don't have the legislation knowledge re. import car plates, but touch wood i've not been pulled for it, even when i was pulled for speed (sorry officer, aven't got none
)

Really? I was told I wasn't going to be able to choose when. Apparently I will get a call and given a date. If I can't make it, I will get the points. Makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one! At least we had the option, I am trying to keep my licence clean!AJ

That's a good idea! My cars not officially an import, but a small stamp sized plate should keep the heat off!

Part of me wants to continue driving without a plate just to p
s off my local copper and just accept the fines. AnilJ said:

You won't get a call, you will receive a letter within three weeks giving you three options; court to dispute the matter, £60 3 points FPN or attend the course. You then have 28 days to book and pay for the course (£85) and up to four months to attend. If you don't get a letter call the number of the bottom of the slip you should have been given. You should get a choice of dates and venues. The course is 3-4 hours either morning or afternoon. HTHDon't piss around with the plate, stick a legal one on and let the BiB stop the people who need dealing with. The old legal plate in the boot routine won't work either it just shows you know you are taking the mick.
