DID PH STICKER SAVE LICENCE?
Discussion
I think I had a very lucky escape today, stopped by unmarked black BMW east bound between Havant & Chichester A27. I was stretching the legs on The Volvo with a ST220 trying to catch me and we both got tugged. Very sympathetic police officer gave me the option of fixed penalty of 3 points and £60 which I accepted gracefully.
He commented on my PH sticker in the rear screen with a wry smile, so perhaps that saved my licence today, as in fairness, he had me well into 3 figures but recorded me at 97.76.
So, officer, if you’re reading this as I suspect you may well be,( PH member perhaps?) thanks very much for your courtesy and discretion , and allowing me to keep my licence today.

I had the same thing going to Goodwood last year when I overtook the only car on the A27 (a 3 series compact) and then had the gradual realisation that the car I whizzed past was now behind me with a couple of blue flashing lights. As I was off to Piazza Italia in Horsham, he knew it was a charity day so did me for the same as you just about - graciously accepted my punishment!!!

I don't suppose you found out what happened to the Mondeo Driver?
No I didn't, as he dealt with me first and then called the other driver into his car after I left, but I know he was not to pleased with the other guy as he had 5 up with kids in the car.I had the same on the A27 on the way to goodwood a couple of years ago, caught at just over a ton, but let off with 3 points. I can guarantee the whole episode and the feeling of relief after getting back into my car was a much better lesson than any 'speed awareness' course would have been!

Had a pull on the M5 by the Gloucesters a while back in the Cerb when pushing big leptons, trafpol stated he had followed for considerable time and waited for me to drop below the ton before hitting the blues, let me off too stating he thought it best to let me know I was soon crossing into Avon and the Diob there would have my licence.
So, this just quantifies that all plod aren't jobsworths and there are some nice chaps out there.

West Sussex also included, certainly does give you a lot more respect for the law when your treated compassionately, but as Jim rightly said, its all down to attitude. In fairness, I also got a condensed speed awareness course by the officer, he did make sense, and I took it on board. Some decent cops in Hampshire, much better than the Dorset Moneymakers!
My car made me lucky.
I managed yo get caught and the chap said the usual blurp and then he started to question about why a young guy like me has a car like that whilst his partner was eye balling my illegal plates (Skoda emblem instead of the GB and briskoda.net underneath), soon as I said they where understated cars he perked up and started complementing my car. So ended up forgetting about it.

i got pulled on the m27 westbound by portsmouth in my old work van, a 57plate long wheel base high roof transit, for doing 79mph. i ended up with 3 points and a £60 fine.
he could easily of pulled me over on the a27 when i passed the undercover car (a dark grey bmw 1 series m sport) when i was touching 100mph, but waited for me to get onto the motorway

the ones in Surrey are by far the best though!!!Some decent cops in Hampshire, much better than the Dorset Moneymakers!
Your best to stick with just a PH sticker, black rat stickers don't go down well, most true rats no longer have them!!

I use the A27/M27 daily Sussex usually use the silver A4,but the 1 series is very stealth you would never know. Yesterday saw a Black 3 series estate tug a chavvy 206 at Fareham but that had a stack of cones in the back.
Are you sure it wasnt a gunmetal grey 5 series?Gassing Station | South Coast | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
