Anyone here do it? Or recommend someone? I'm thinking about going this route.

Just need the aerial and a cable, TV has the box built in.

Believe you'll need a dish not an aerial.
Should be plenty of firms to do it.

Well yes, a dish - typing in a rush smile

There are lots that do it, just wanted to offer the work to any PistonHeader's that may be out there smile

I looked into this about a year ago. I could get a satellite dish and cable etc for about £35 and install it myself, or get an installation company to supply and fit a dish for around £140.
So it's worth doing it yourself if you know what you're doing. I gave up in the end as I didn't feel like tackling it myself and couldn't afford £140 plus the cost of a decent Humax Freesat HD Recorder.

There is no way I am getting up no ladder!!!

Plus our TV is on the top floor so extending ladders would be needed. I've been quoted £140 but feel that's a bit steep so threw it out there.

I'm guessing though I'll just have to watch BBC until the power on the transmitter is turned up. (All other channels the signal is too weak)

Hang on a minute Mark, before we move on. We need to tie up some more important outstanding issues.
It takes longer to type aerial than dish, and also aerial is definitely more tricky to spell.
Don't fob us off. wink

The speed like wot I does type proper like means the time difference is marginal. As for spelling, well I just like to show off.

Last I heard you quite enjoyed a fobbing.......

And there was me thinking you were going to offer to come round and put my aerial dish up.

Have you checked the channels available on freesat? They had it in a b&b I stayed in a couple months ago and compared to freeview it was crap (imo)

I take it the house hasn't got an old sky dish on as you could use that?

On Freesat you lose channels like Dave, Yesterday and 1 or 2 others but gain 3 HD channels, a series of +1 channels and some CBS channels plus probably others.

The reason for looking at Freesat was just to get a decent picture, not bothered about the channels so much, if I haven't got it I can't watch it.
Anyway, last night I was watching a non-BBC channel and it was fine, so may just see what happens.

No existing dish as I've had the house since new.

It is possible to pick up the channels through a broadband connection rather than a dish, from what I hear wink

If you're local to Southampton I have a Sky dish with 4 way LNB that was going to the tip, yours free if you collect.

Then you just need to pay someone to fix it up.

I'd recommend Freesat, Freeview HD not coming here for over a year and there are some great FS PVRs on the market.
