Decent/Gastro pub, Formby(ish)

Can any of the NW PHers recommend a decent pub in/around Formby, or nearby? I'm after somewhere that's not a chain, has a decent atmosphere and a bit of character.

Southport is out, otherwise I'd be heading straight to The Guest House, so if anyone knows a similar pub in Formby, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Weld Blundel is nice, good food and recently smartened up. it's on the northbound side of the Formby bypass at the South end. Also the Pheasant Inn is a good place to eat. It's on the B5193 just off the south end of the bypass.
