Stuff to do in Liverpool?

Starting to get really bored sitting in the house all the time, but having trouble finding anything worth doing that doesn't involve too much travel...

Wanted to start gliding but it seems that the nearest place is in North Wales, no decent MTB trails around, etc... Anyone got any suggestions of something interesting to do of an evening in the Liverpool/Warrington area?
