Taken up golf after a 20 yr lay off so need to go to a driving range before I hack up my local course. Where is the nearest one to Harrogate/wetherby? Is it scotton?

Isn't there a driving range just off the A59 next to the A1 roundabout?

(disclaimer - I don't golf)

Yes, at Flaxby. Doesn't look very impressive though. I think Rudding Park is closest bet.

I'm thinking of going up there to swing some clubs around. I haven't played for ages and do miss it.

Yeah, Wikes a good place. http://www.leedsgolfcentre.com/

Has a decent driving range and a good 'Par 3' course.

I used to go to the driving range there. Never played a round there though.

I´m in the same boat looking to start again after a good few years without playing. Unfortunately the people I know that play all seem to be single digit handicappers so think it´ll be a while before I head anywhere near a course with them.

Maybe a Yorkshire drive and drive meet?

Blimey Marcus, where have you been hiding yourself? smile

Last I heard from you, you were away and had lent your brother the Tuscan.

Still loitering Al. I didn´t figure you for a golfer.

I´ve just been away to Chamonix for the winter but, after lessons learned from last time, I left the TVR parked up safely. smile

I've played a few rounds up there in the past. Decent little course for a hacker like myself. The other one just up the road from it (The Village?) is only 9 holes I think but it's quiet in the mornings if you don't want anybody else watching you smile

Rudding park has a very nice setup. The range, par 3 course and the full 18 course are all topnotch. The club house does very very nice food also.

I can recommend http://yorkshiregolf.proboards.com/index.cgi for all things yorkshire golf wise. We are arranging a meet and anyone is welcome.
