Afternoon,

'a friend of mine' did something very silly and now is in court for drink driving in a couple of weeks. Anyone know any decent solicitors around the West Yorkshire area??
Why not represent yourself with the advice you get off the other thread you've just started on this subject? rolleyes

No idea, I've never been in your situation and I wouldn't care to be either, but then you didn't have to get behind the wheel whilst being twice over the limit. I'm sure that you can get free initial legal advice. Oh, it will possibly affect your security clearance depending what level you have - you will have a criminal record.

Hey, leave the poor fella alone, everyone makes mistakes, nobody is perfect, he is on this forum to get some advice. If he raped someone then throw rocks. But lets see if we can be good men or women to help a fellow PHer out in what will be a real low point in his life.

I really wouldn't bother getting a solicitor Adam.

Best of luck with the case.

Wouldn't be saying that if he had "mistakenly" rammed into you when he was pissed would you?

I suggest your friend takes it on his chin and as one of those that was sent through a window by a drunken driver I hope he or she learns!!!!

You can get let off if you get a solicitor, it all depends if the police did the correct procedure. Your solicitor will look for mistakes and if any are found the case will be dropped. Also a solicitor can help with getting you a reduced ban. All depends how much you value your license above money.

Adam, I think you would be best to chat to a Solicitor just to see what they have to say, and to see if they think they can have any influence on the outcome.

My understanding is that your first hour with a Soilcitor would be FOC anyway? If this is the case it's a no brainer to chat things through in my opinion.

Good luck.

Cheers. Simon.

Good advice from Simon and, on that note can we please leave it as we all have different views on the crime and it will undoubtedly get heated.

I presume that your other thread is on Speeding, plod and the law?

Good luck.
