Meeting at 7pm means you'll only have an hour of day light left for having a nosey at the cars.
Wouldn't it be better on a weekend?

Handy for Harrogate too. I will try and pop along, even though mine is more of a "modern classic" smile

What sort of cars do you envisage attending. This could be the start of something quite good. We have a West Yorks and an East Yorks pub meet, so this could fill a gap quite nicely. We have always found that evenings work well as most people have busy weekends.

Sorry chaps, can't make this even in the normal car as it is parents evening at the little ones school in Ilkley. I'd be tarred and feathered if I miss it.

Dave - as Al said I think this has got real legs too. I'm well up for some car meets but the West Yorks ones are a bit of a way for me (between Skipton & Harrogate) and the South Yorks/Lincs ones are blooming miles for an evening.

You son has a great chance to get some really interesting people and cars together. I've been thinking for some time that there is room for something official(ish) for the North Leeds / Harrogate / Dales area to get together, especially if it attracts some interesting metal (like Al's red head).

If your son is looking for any interestring articles / features for his website/magazine please pass on my details (PM me here and I'll send them over) as I've just restored a classic that is about to be raced (first one starting Oct 30th for 6 days - 3000km through Europe).

Ben

Sounds good Dave.

If you can keep this thread about the actual meet then you won't be accused of trying to gain any advertising favours for the web site. I have indicated my attendance on your Facebook page but if you do have a list of attendees it might be worth listing them so that people can decide whether to turn out or not. For example, I would happily get the car out and come down to meet up with a few people and have a look at a few cars, but maybe not just one or two.

I'll start the list off smile

Thanks Ben, I'm sure Mat will be interested. The magazine is his baby so I musn't interfere too much. But I have suggested that it could be a great opportunity for budding journalists, or simply classic owners with a good story to tell. Sounds like you absolutely qualify! Good luck with the race.

I think you should contact Mathew direct. I'll gladly PM you with an email address.

Sure thing, I'll drop him a line if you ping me his details.

You're being optimistic though, even though he's grown up it will still be like a puppy. He'll do all the good bits and you'll be left to take it for walks and pick up its sh it - fatherhood huh, who would do it smile

Looks like there will be more than just a few from the response so far. I'll pass your message on to Mat.

Sounds a good one! Don't have a classic any longer but would be interested in seeing and chatting about some classics. North Rigton is very convenient too.

Dave, anyone who has an interest in cars should get themselves on here. Even if it not a classic bias, it is the font of an awful lot of knowledge and VERY good for networking and meeting other enthusiasts. Give him a nudge smile

Put it this way - if you're on Pistonheads and he's not, that makes you cooler smokin

Yes, but by default, all Alfas are cool and so allowed at any car meet smile

Hope the sun stays out, as I hate cleaning cars!

A pretty good turn out for the first meet and some very nice cars there. That E-Type and Paul's 930 were beauties!

Hopefully become a good regular meet. And after a 25 year absence, I'd forgotten how nice the Square and Compass is smile
