Elvington one-fof track day - tips?
Discussion
I don't think there is much advice to give as they seem to be very controlled days from what I hear - they won't give you much chance to really explore the limits of the car anyway. Very easy venue to find, A64 and then follow signs to the Air Museum.
Elvington seems to have the ability to give you a tan / burn you even when it's not sunny but given the rain up here at the moment that probably won't be an issue. It's quite an isolated and open location though so bring clothes for all eventualities. Not much in the way of catering options there so also pack supplies if you can.
Otherwise just try and see if they will let you have some fun, very little to crash into up there so a great place to have a hoon if you are allowed.
I can't see how running a Gallardo at Elvington is at all commercially viable. Every time I've been there I've done in a full set of tyres and a mate had to have his front clam resprayed from the serious stone chips they get.
OP Elvington is a great track as there is nothing to hit - you really can take liberties with a car free in the knowledge that there is no armco to hit.

I think the tyres last ages there because they have you drive like a fanny
Also if you accelerate more gently less chips get thrown up, and you tend not to drive up the chuff of other cars either on those driving days.
It's a good enough experience imo, just DO DO DO DO make sure that you say you want to use ALL the revs of the car, at full throttle, and make sure you try ignore the co-drivers direction as much as possible and just enjoy the actual driving *experience* itself...
I believe there are some noise issues at Elvington, and some of the cars are too loud. Ergo they won't let you rev them too hard which is a massive shame... more so when they don't tell you that prior to driving/booking etc.

it was pretty good actually there were plenty of people there 4 gallardos including a special edition - 1 of 4 in the country apparently. my OH got 4 laps in a orange spyder with a very loud exhaust and she coped really well with the flappy paddle.
she was markede 35/40 so she was pleased.
other cars were a few R8s, 3 or four astons, a porsche turbo, VXR monaro that made a sound like a T-rex.
The star of the show though was the Ariel Atom. people were paying for laps and the driver (stigalike) wasn't holding back. I got a bit of video of setting off a lap of elvington and back in about 1:40. quick doesn't even come close it made very fast super cars look like family cars...
