As per title - looking to upgrade the OEM speakers inc cabling to get the best out of the head unit in the car.

Either someone mobile to South/West Yorkshire, or a good place I can take the car to in Sheffield/Wakefield/Leeds areas.

Cheers.

If your just using the standard head unit amp i wouldn't really bother replacing the wires unless you like to listen loud for long and are worried about the wires melting.

If that's the best thing to do then I just a place that knows all about the best speakers to fit that will get the best out of the head unit

Sometimes I just want to kick back and listen to some music rather than the V8. Doesn't happen often, but when it does it would be nice to have something better than the standard system which is a bit average.

I wouldn't spend much more than £30-£40 if you are not amping them. Just find the right size, you may need an adapter, or make one out of mdf, then put the main wire into the crossover, and you may need to run some new wire to the tweeters as factory wiring often splits of only part of the frequency's.

If you want to hear much clearly over a V8 you probably want a small amp and a set of components at the front, don't waste any money on the rears.

You don't mention what head unit you have ungraded to?

The head unit is the OEM head unit (Blaupunkt) which I'm not replacing as it has all the steering wheel controls, LCD display for A/C & reversing sensors and other stuff running through it. The HSV forums indicate that the head unit isn't actually too bad, it's the speakers that let the sound down, so I just want to replace these.

The OEM setup also has an amp in the rear which powers the rear speakers - don't know if this complicates things or not.

So as I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm hoping to find someone else in the area that does rather than have a go myself and probably break something smile

I think you are going to spend alot of money and be quite disappointed with the results.

Tell me about it - I'm addicted!! You should see my Monkfish shopping list wish list!

Yes, must have a meet up once the seasons are more favourable. Would be good to have a chat and a catch up.

If your rears are amped then switch those out for some components that will fit right into the existing holes. Will sound instantly better.
I had some Rainbow components hooked up to a 4 way Genesis amp in my previous car. These aren't the stuff you find in Halfords so you'll need a decent online specialist ...and they are not that cheap.

Try Source Sounds and Security at Chappletown, Sheffield. They have done lots of stuff to my cars stereos over the years and are very knowledgable.
