Surveyor - house purchase.
Discussion
Can anyone reccomend someone local (East of Leeds)?
I want a basic survey doing on a property - its quite modest, on the face of it all in pretty good nick but its not changed hands for quite a long time and its 30 odd years old. I am after a 2nd opinion over and above the valuation/ground searches etc.
Ta!

Just one a note of caution. The basic surveys are usually a waste of time for anything other than a valuation. They probably won't even go into the loft space.
Presuming the purchase is £100k +, for the sake of a few hundred quid extra, get a full structural done for peace of mind. They may even find things that you can use to barter the price own to cover the cost of the survey.

Yep, Al talks sense.
I spent a couple of grand on a survey for my gaff (but it is 270 odd years old) and in the end the results gave me reason to knock £15k off the price I paid.
Scale that up or down and it still holds true.
Even if you pay £500 or so and all is well you have that peace of mind which is probably worth it.
