Evening PH. I'm slightly ashamed to admit that although I'm a Yorkshireman I seldom venture too far out and therefore have never really properly experienced some of the fantastic driving routes I know we have hidden away. I'm taking delivery of my RenaultSport 200 this week and I have four whole days off work and would love nothing more than a good lengthy blast, with no real intended destination, just purely for the pleasure of driving. So I'm just looking for some suggestions really as I don't really know where to even begin. Wouldn't mind a stop off for a bit of grub along the way.

I'm in West Yorkshire. smile

I've just got a 200, and I did 200 miles through the dales the other day, starting at Malton food festival, then headed up into the bleakest areas I've ever seen haha, we just kept going for several hours making sure we didn't get too close to Whitby and followed a road map to get home.

You will love the Clio, seriously. As soon as I've got myself a mirror back on I'll go for a run up somewhere, I'm sure Burriana will sort something out for a few weeks time?

There are plenty of nice roads North of Skipton - and the food at the Angel at Hetton is superb! Views are good as well...

From there, well keep heading North, Grassington, Hawes, Reeth, Leyburn and the road back down between Leyburn & Ripon is great fun too....

If you fancy going further North of York - The Road between Pickering and Whitby taking in the hole of Horcum is superb. A more off the beaten track route though is Hutton-le-Hole, over Blakey Ridge to the splendid bakery at Danby. Turn left and head for Stokeley and then enjoy the road back to Helmsley - Turn right and follow the A170 to Thirsk down Sutton Bank for some added entertainment - through Thirsk then the A61 back to Ripon and south from there.

Just a couple of fun ones in there - enjoy!

Cheers,
Tom

Anywhere out of the back of Otley, west of Harrogate, just go and get lost. Head up to Ribblehead viaduct, Hawes, anywhere round there.

There's a pretty big Renaultsport group from Yorkshire that go on regular hoons and attend loads of PH shows. There's also a monthly pub meet near Harratts at Wakefield. Head over to Renaultsport forum or join up to the facebook group

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/community/forum/Foru... (need to be a member)

I've just let my 200 go, awesome car and right at home in the dales. Running a 172 that is slowly being turned into a track car while I save up for something else - not too sure what, depends how well the saving goes

Danny smile

EDIT - next meet is tomorrow at Swan and Cygnet opposite Pugneys near the dealership. Probable people there from 7.00 until 11.00. I might be there if the mrs allows...

This is why I love PH! Thanks for the information. Tjob I'd love to come on a run with you lot whenever the next one gets organised. Keep promising myself I will eventually attend one. I'll also get signed up to RenaultSport. Looks like the best way is to just tag along with a group who know what they're doing or just brim with V Power and spend a day exploring. Honestly can't remember the last time I intentionally set out on a long run just for enjoyment. I suspect the Clio will change that mind.

Edit: I've also been aching to go to The Sun Inn for a long time so that will more than likely be the grub stop.

It depends whereabouts in w. Yorkshire you are. Otley is one thing, Huddersfield totally another, route wise.

That not a bad starter for ten yes

Apart from the late start that is wink

As has been said, north of Harrogate you are into some great driving roads, but even more so if you start early enough or, have the time to go further east to hit the Worlds and North Yorkshire Moors.

Happy days. Bring it down to the pub tonight, I have mt pass out, that's if you're local

What's the spec on it?

Harratts are top quality, Adam at Wakefield on servicing sorts out some great deals for the Yorkshire RS lot, both servicing and parts

It'll be a 6-6.30 start depending on how loudly people complain smile

It will be finishing at a lovely country inn within ten minutes of Harrogate/Otley/Skipton where they do a full English breakfast for £7.95. A bit more than the biker's cafe in Otley but, a) you'd spend £4 or more on a sausage butty and cup of tea and b) I have no idea what time it opens.

I'll start a separate thread smile

Could do the 10th I think. I'll keep me eyes peeled for the thread. Full English in the morn and pre LM BBQ in the afternoon should do the trick.

Never really been across that part of France, hence taking the opportunity this time. If you still have some route maps a copy would be appreciated.
