Im staying in Leeds city centre next week (near the station) but I'm also half way through the C25K running programme so I need a decent joggng route of about 5K.

I'm thinking that the Canal towpath is probably my best bet- does anyone have experience or an alternative suggestion?

Unless you want to drive out to one of the suburban parks the canal is your only realistic choice. Probably better running towards Kirkstall rather than towards the Armouries.

Canal also has mile markers so easy to see how far you've ran. Otherwise drive out to Roundhay park lake for a nice little run. If you were doing a bit longer I'd suggest following the road out to Headingley, then turn left at the main lights down to Kirkstall, then back into town down Kirkstall Rd/canal

The canal is really the only town centre option - blighted over the last week by a serial rapist who has been praying on single female joggers. We've had a notice to all NHS Staff to avoid the canal ( if you are running alone and female ) - until further notice.

If running, head towards Kirkstall Abbey - as going the other way will have too many breaks and it can be hard to get into a pace.

Hyde Park is another option if towards that part of town. The outer path is laid out for joggers. Hyde Park is one of Europes highest burglary locations !!!!

If you're about on Saturday morning there is a free, timed 5k run at Hyde Park (and one at Roundhay Park)
