Stag Do / Activity places in Yorkshire
Discussion
Arranging a stag do for a mate at the moment and looking for suggestions for your standard and not so standard activity places in Yorkshire. I have been to the demonwheelers site in Sheffield for another mates stag do a few months back, but aside from that I have no first hand experience of any other places. Open to anything from quad biking to clay pigeon shooting etc. Budget of around £60-£80 per head. Any ideas chaps?

My Brother has recently has his, We did the trans penine real ale trail started in Batley and ended up in Manchester for the night out. 13 1/2 hours on the beer it was good fun

Cheers for the link, the Groom is not much of an ale drinker though. Plus it would probably be funnier to see him attempt paintballing as he will no doubt get shot at all day!
LeighB - what package did you guys go for on the stag do, and any idea how many extra paintballs you purchased on the day? I know it all depends on how trigger happy you are but I am trying to get a rough figure. Cheers!

I can't remember hte name of the paintball centre but it's in Bawtry and has a predator (Heavily armoured employee of the centre with powerful marker etc), really good day and plenty of games for the money! Just be careful though because you get very few paintballs for the initial price and extras are pricey, go for the higher package because we regretted not doing so

there is paintballing near Skipwith www.ypc.co.uk that is a lot better than the one near Knaresborough - been to both - There is also Karting near York www.proam-karting.co.uk and it is brilliant! It is literally flat from one hairpin to the other - no need to brake or lift! I would just plan it around either the day out wanted or night out wanted? York is a cracking night in the right places, as is Leeds or even Hull....
Arrggh to many places to chose from!
ezi - thanks for the info, found the website so thats another on the list of possible places
ReedyGT - whats better about ypc compared to hpc near Knaresborough? The layout, activities etc?
YPC, HPC and BPF all seem to have similar prices and packages. Looks like I might have to make a trip to each of them to check out the type of games offered first.

Can't really remember what it cost Gibbers but I'd perhaps give them a call to see if they do any 'party' offers depending how many there are of you.
I've also been to the Skipwith place which is good, can't remember which place has the 'Predator' mind, but that is a good part of the event.
As Reedy says, the karting at Tockwith is excellent. Once you've done a few laps you only need a dab of the brakes at the top end and a bit more at the hairpin.

The one @ Skipwith is the one with the Predator (I did not see him as you have to stay still and got taken to the centre of the enemy and left there! Bastid!)
The one near Knaresborough was just really (and I mean REALLY) tired and worn, probably because it is busier? We went after rain and it was just a mud bath, really smelled bad and you could not run anywhere as it was too slippy... The air guns were not as good and the overall layout was not as good... The one at Skipwth has a big bridge structure for a capture the flag round... It is brilliant.. and had also rained, but was not bad at all compared to the one at Knaresborough... It is just a bit in the sticks, that is the only down side, but i used to live in Riccall, about 5 minutes away!
That Karting track is one of the best I have been on and the Karts are quick, they will do 50-60mph, but it feels sooooo much faster!!

I have been a couple of times to an activity centre on the boundry of the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, (nearest place was Kirby Lonsdale).
The place was called Homescales Activity Centre, I did clay pigeon shooting and quad biking. It was 8 years ago when I had my stag do there, but it was well run by nice people (family run by a farmer). We had a good half day, and there were loads of options of activities dependant on budget.
For shooting and quad biking it was about £60 each.

My wife booked me a day at Yorkshire Outdoors (http://www.yorkshire-outdoors.co.uk/) up in the hills above Thirsk for my 40th a couple of years ago, drove a Landy in the morning on their offroad course and shot clays in the afternoon (hadn't picked up a shotgun for 20 years) - no idea of cost but they now have quads and Segways if you're looking to mix a few activities.
Thanks for all the replies. Ended up going with Yorkshire Paintball Centre. Had a cracking day out, we booked the £60 package which included 1000 paintballs and a basic lunch. The day started off badly as a chap from another group seemed to snap his femur in a nasty fall during the second round. This however resulted in the air ambulance being called, was pretty awesome being stood a little too close when it landed!
Back to the paintballing, YPC had a good range of levels and some decent marshals. Only downer was that some of the guns were prone to jamming. Spending a whole level having to shoot one paintball and then re-cock the gun was a bit of a pain but hey I still managed to shoot someone.
The final round was hunt the stag. Trouble was as the best man I also had to line up alongside him and take a barrage of paintballs. However in return we made the stag line up a second time and this time I got to have a few shots at him too. The stag is a Leeds fan so we forced him to wear a fake Manchester United shirt during the paintballing, which made him stand out from a mile.
All in all, YPC is a decent venue and I reccomend it. Might be worth paying for the gun upgrade next time round though.
