Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there's anywhere free to park in Harrogate centre or nearby please? I need to be at a place on Cambridge Crescent which is just off Parliament St/A61. Should only be 1hr max, but maybe 2. The place I'm going to also has a branch at Wakefield where I know it's free to park, but Harrogate is easier to get to from here so I'd prefer to go there if it's free to park or cheap enough! biggrin Thanks.

You could maybe get up Valley Drive. 5 minute walk.

Dead centre of town is all p&d, 5 mins walk it is mainly permit only. Drop into the information office on your way in to collect a (free) permit. There are 2, 3 and 4 hour places around, sure you'll be fine.

Alternatively the top 3/4 of Cornwall Road is free next to Valley Gardens. 5 minute walk to town.

To add I'd guess it'll be a disc zone though... Not sure where you can pick them up from these days.

I have a disc from a recent trip. I think it gives an hour free parking? If you want to borrow it then your welcome to collect it in the Headingley/West Park area

OK, so can't park anywhere in city centre as it's P&D and anywhere within 5 min walk outside of that requires some disc thingy, is that right? Anyone know the craic with the Waitrose mentioned? That looks ideal from its map location and I can easily spend a fiver in there if need be?

Can you use these disc thingies in the city centre street parking too or do you have to park 5 mins away?

Yes, I use Waitrose in Harrogate most weekends. You can park in there for 2 hours. They have a warden. You don't need a ticket and you don't need to buy anything (i.e. they don't check). No barriers so no checking of receipt. As there is no ticket system they are dependent on the warden noting numbers, so in reality you would get longer than 2 hrs, but how much, I don't know. They ticket people rather than clamp.

Given it is Waitrose, I think you would have to be there a lot longer than 2 hrs as they value their image - I have never seen a ticket on a car....

You can buy something from them if you want to, but that's up to your conscience (they do have a quick kiosk)

Waitrose is a five minute walk to Cambridge Crescent also.

I think the max waiting there is an hour but directly opposite on Montpellier Square right next to the side windows of Betty's is pay and display up to three hours. Might cost three or four pounds.

Just down in the bottom of town on Swan Road it is disc parking up to three hours.

The top end of Victoria Avenue (East of the roundabout) is completely free with no time restriction. Although you will be lucky to find a spot depending on time of day.
