Weekend treat suggestions
Discussion
As there seems to be a few non car related requests I thought I could get away with this one.
I am after suggestions for a weekend break, either a fri and sat night or just a sat night. The main theme is a treat for my wife for her B day. I think she would like a spa treat but neither of us are good at sitting still for too long.
I don't know if what I would like exists but here goes
1, Have an active first day (Sat), climbing / walking or similar, hot tub relax before a good meal (nothing fancy but just good food), few drinks and bed in a nice relaxed atmosphere / location.
2, Good breakfast, morning spa treatment, lunch, home about 4 to get the kids from grand parents.
3, Nice drive to the location. I have just bought my dream car, 4.2 Cerbera, which will be sorn till spring so this will be one of the first decent drives I will have in it. Looking within about a 2 hour drive radius from Huddersfield. (This would be my part of the weekend)
All suggestions welcome and appreciated
Cheers

Sunday, drive to Whitby, then head further up to Stokesley, then to Helmsley for afternoon tea, and then back to A64 for relaxed drive home!!!

Like I said on the other thread:

Failing that, head south to Whittlebury Hall - the Spa is superb and they do good deals.

As most have said, Dalby Forest. Do you want an absolute spankingly good hotel to spend a night/couple of days up there?
Book in to the Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa at Helmsley here
Then book dinner at the Michelin Star rated Star at Harome TheStaratHarome
On your way up you can go via White Horse Bank, stunning views from the top.
From Helmsley, DalbyForest is about 10-15 mins drive.

Cannot recommend The Star at Harome highly enough. Cosy country pub with open fire, but with food to die for Book in to the Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa at Helmsley here

There is the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey. They have a spa which is great and it is close to great walks and 2 top pubs. Worth a look.
Ahh, over looked this as I didn't know it had a spa. From what I remember simons seat is a great walk which could be done from the hotel and get back for a relax. We could have a winner, thanks.

The Dev restaurant is excellent but pricey, the brasserie more of a buzz.
Great walks right from the door along the Wharf to Bolton Abbey, Bolton Bridge, the Strid etc.
A 10 minute drive away is my local. Crackling log fire, local ale, great and cheap proper pub food. http://www.craven-cruckbarn.co.uk/
