My 1 year old is off, tomorrow, to have pins put in his feet frown - I know, having been there many times, that parking is restrictive but can anyone tell me whether the multi storey near it is 24 hours or not as we need to be there at 0745....

Thanks

JTW

Advice from a SCH veteran - treat SCH as having no parking!

There's about 20 spaces at the hospital itself, as you're going in early for day surgery you might be lucky and get one. My advice would be to try parking at SCH but plan to park at the Hallamshire instead as a fallback option.

If you've got someone with you who can help unload and look after JTW jnr I'd suggest you drop off at SCH and in the event that there's no parking you can then drive round and park in the multi-story at the Hallamshire and then walk back to SCH. It's only a couple of minutes to walk between the two sites.

Day surgery admission usually takes a while so you should have plenty of time between dropping off, parking and getting back to SCH before anything happens. Check googlemaps for the direct route on foot.

GG jnr has been going to SCH since he was 6 weeks, he was 2 last month. He usually goes every couple of months so we're used to SCH now.

Bit of advice for the wait during surgery - you'll get a beeper so you can wonder off during the op, the range just covers Weston Park museum cafe across the road (good coffee and cake)!

If you need any more advice feel free to ask.

Edit - just re-read your post and realised you've been before - Hallamshire multistory will be open at that time.

Thanks Gary.

I and my OH are going, leaving our 4 year old to get to school with her Nana, We'll have to leave home at 0630 to get over by 0745 - hopefully traffic will be light at that time. The concern is that Harry will be starved and unhappy about not being fed frown

This is our 4th visit (or 5th - I forget) to SCH and he's been to Shorpe general about 5 times, once by Ambiwlans which was upsetting for everyone - God knows how this will shake out as he'll be unhappy and not in a good place after his general. On the plus side, my best mate lives in Sheffield so I'm staying there tomorrow night while my OH stays in with Harry overnight to decompress.

No worries here. Nossir. Not at all.....

Got parked in the multi storey easily enough £8 a day? WTF!!

Harry has bandaged feet, is on a drip and is doped up with morphine - no walking for hin, probably, for 6 weeks. Then we're back in a week, then again in 6 weeks. Joy.

i just park at the bottom of the hill and pay the meter. (if you turn left just after coming off the round about) never not been able to park there in about 3.5 years.

Fair point but at least in the multi storey I'm not worrying about the meter - got there today at 0715 and left at 1800. Expensive but, tragically, necessary.

And we're back on Thursday.

And in 4/6 weeks.

Great.
