Orchid as mentioned is great

Restaurant bar and grill - criticised of being too commercial, frozen steaks etc, but I'm a fan

White Hart - Posh, small portions, you know the type

Pine Marten for Sunday casual lunch

Hotel du Vin bistro great for a steak.

The new Turkish is superb if that's your thing - it is mine.

If you have a car get out to some Dales pubs for great pubby tuck.

Tiger Inn at Coneythorpe is nice for pub food..

Steak house, have a ride out to the Ryther Arms near Tadcaster.

Chinese restaurant in town, it's not a fancy place but I think the Imperial is bang on the money.

Hotel du Vin at the top.

Bistro Pierre as Craig says is good with nice atmosphere

Best pub food is ten mins drive outside Harrogate at Kirkby Overblow - Shoulder of Mutton. Superb.

If you like Thai, then the Thai Orchid has no peers smile

Enjoy - Harrogate is lovely, where are you staying?

We are staying at Scotia House boutique b & b.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, anymore? as would rather not have to do any driving once there, unless there are any meets organised for the Sunday morning as I have a couple of hours to waste.

On John Street (just off the cenotaph) which is a pedestrianised little street, there are two bars at the top, Pitcher& Piano and Banyan which have seats outside and are great for watching the world go by. Banyan doesn't do bad bar food and has a good atmosphere.

A left field one, but one which you must do at least for afternoon tea is, of course, Betty's tearooms. Cream teas are superb but also more formal meals are top notch. Ask for the piano lounge level down the first set of stairs which looks out over The Stray at the side, rather than the front cafe type bistro or the lower floor.

The Orchid is always consistently good for Pan Asian grub

Never been but Mirabelle (french) always good reviews from friends and workmates and its on my list having just moved to Harrogate

Someone mentioned i should go to Van Zella (apparently they are looking to get a Michelin Star)

Van Zeller is fantastic, but a little pricy.
Deanos graze and grill is great and a little different, it' serves tapas style English and Italian food.
Timberlakes also does great food, and is well priced.
You won't struggle for restaurants in Harrogate, but I'd advise booking as early as possible, as everywhere good gets busy over weekends.

Bed is great: http://www.bed.ltd.uk/

Owned by a former Lotus driver. Nice food and vibe. Mention that you like cars and you'll have a great old natter with Dave the proprietor.

Timberlakes and Orchid are great. I really enjoyed ordering lots of starters at orchid from around Asia.

We went for our engagement meal.

The Drum & Monkey, Superb Seafood! Suppose to be the best seafood place outside of London. Upstairs by the window is the best table in the house.
Fantastic food at extremely reasonable prices. thumbup

William and Victoria on Cold Bath Road would be top of my list - moved away a few years ago but stood the test of time well in the 10 years I lived there. Drum and Monkey (fish) and Horoscope (Chinese) were also decent.
