Yes really! Lumps of stone.

PH manages to answer so many varied requests I thought it was worth a shot.

I am trying to find some small rocks, basalt preferably or grey granite (without sparkly bits) for my aquarium. Nothing too big, say 4-5 inch. Or a bigger piece I can break up.

Any ideas in the Yorkshire area?

Thanks!

I'd suggest the Lake District, closest place I can think of for Volcanic rocks. My wife needed some a few years back for Hot Stone Massage therapy and we found some smooth but heavy Bassalt on a Lake shore, Coniston I think.

Hmmm, a bit far for fish tank decorations! Could excuse for a ride out on the bike though.

I was thinking along the lines of places that work with stone, if anyone knows anywhere?

Ornamental stone mason (gravestones) ?
Yorkshire stone is mainly sedimentary not volcanic, not much of the kind you are looking for.

The nearest hard stone that Im aware of and certainly thats quarried is in the East Midlands.

You get a greeny granite from Bardon Hill.

I forgot this thread, thank you for all the replies. I found a local stone yard that sells reclaimed granite cobbles (setts?) which I assumed would be expensive. Turns out they wanted 80 pence each for them! Gave the guy a fiver for two, cleaned them up with hydrochloric acid and smashed them up.

Finished result (including stupid plastic Patrick!):
