Recommend a pub/eatery in the Goole/Selby area for lunch?

As part of some pre-arranged birthday plans for myself in a few weeks I'll be over in the Goole area on a Friday lunch time. Plan was to go somewhere for dinner after but I don't know any food pubs in the area. Don't mind a little drive for something good.

Anything stand out in that general area?

Have wanted to go there for a long time, but I think the earliest they open is 2 pm and thats on a Sunday? Could always book for dinner, but we were hoping to grab a nice pub lunch before heading back home.

If you just want a good meal at a good price, try the Air and Calder Premier inn at the Goole M62 roundabout next to the Shell garage. Some main meals are 2 meals for £10 and 2 desserts for £2, now thats good.

The blacksmith arms in Biggin (just outside shurburn) is quite good.

For a decent pub lunch you cant go wrong with Percy Arms or The Kings Head (both mentioned above) I would Probbaly go with the Percy Arms for a 'better' feel during the week.

the ash tree at Barkston Ash does the best chips. cheap too. Ryther arms for anything else.

The Barnes Wallis, North Howden.

Good food, generous portions, real ales and the Best road in Yorkshire goes from there, north!

The BW got some great write ups from the national press mid 2013 too & Kieran, the patron is the Chef & Kirsty, the hostess with the mostest!

Percy arms also quite nice, but not as 'down to earth' for me.

There's also L'Anchor if you fancy some Italian in Hensall (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g580414-d1836982-Reviews-La_Anchor_Bar_Pizzeria_Limited-Goole_East_Riding_of_Yorkshire_England.html) which is quite authentic Italian.

Thanks everyone, ended up at Percy Arms (eventually, big diversion in place) and had a lovely big Rib Eye. Couldn't fault it at all. I've just bought an MX5 so gives me an excuse to try out all the others.
