...........and would do me a BIG favour?

My favourite uncle died last week and I'm putting together a collage of pics from some of his 75 photo albums onto my PC to play at his funeral next week.

Until about 1986 he lived in Sheffield and I'd like to include a pic of his old house. I've tried Google but the house sits in it's own grounds behind a hedge and you can't really see it clearly. Also spoke the estate agents who sold it for him and they were as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike - actually said, "nah mate, there's nuffink it it for us so not interested". No idea who owns it now so can't contact them.

So if anyone can easily get to the Brincliffe area of Sheffield and would take a pic and email it to me, I'd buy them a virtual pint and raise a glasss to you at his funeral wake.

PM me and I'll give you the address.

TIA

My money is on a photoshopped multi media avi of Sheffield with your uncle in it with accompanying period music within 24 hours such is the power of PH.

Condolences btw. PH never lets us down at these times.

There are a few PHers in Sheffield often found in the Yorkshire forum, could be worth a post there.

Going in about 15 mins, looking brighter than this morning so hopefully a decent photo.

Looking at Streetview may need to sneak onto the driveway to get the best photo.
May have to put my fluorescent vest on to look official :-)

I've now got an image in my head of a homeowner looking on in bewilderment, as a bunch of powerfully built directors take photographs of their house. Glad it looks like you're going to get sorted OP.

Mission accomplished and photo emailed to OP.

Hadn't been up that way for a few years and had forgotten how nice that part of Sheffield is.
His Uncle lived in a very nice house.

Not powerfully built or a Director so didn't look that suspicious :-)

Thanks all esp great granny for the photo. Got it. And yes he really WAS a powerfully built company director, actually worked for a division of Asda before they were really well known in the UK. Retired at 53 in '85 on c£65k a year and had a final salary pension index linked. So he's been retired for 35 years and was retired longer than he worked, so in total he got pension payments probably close to £4million. And spent/lost the lot in the Lloyds Insurance debacle.

I told him once how lucky he was, "no boy", he replied, "not luck. Clever planning".
