Malton - Child friendly Pub / Restaurant

We're meeting relatives in Malton tomorrow for lunch. Where is good for 4 adults and 2 children (age 8 & 5). The 8 year old is mine and well behaved but their 5 year old can be a hooligan.
Need somewhere better than McD but not quite at the level of fine dining for powerfully built Directors. Also vegetarian to be considered.

There are some nice places just outside, but I think you're at a struggle in the town - I'd go for the New Malton in the market place - good pub grub and a decent pint!

Venture half a mile to norton and go to the derwent!

Always a busy pub
