Please can everyone sign this petition to get the A64 made into a dual carriageway from York to Scarborough.

It would make the journey to York a lot easier (and a lot faster driving )

Thanks.

Done.

How long until they scrap the petition facility on the NO 10 website? Can't see Brown allowing it to continue, far too democratic.

I'm averaging about 2 petitions a day at the moment so I fully expect my email address to be blacklisted soon.

Signed.

What an arse of a road.

Mind you, drove from Whitby to Leeds a few weeks ago at about 9pm, what a drive... not much traffic at all, and what was there was easily passable.

Think I made the journey in under one and a half hours!

DC all the way would make the coast "not that far away" as time goes, but as it is now, it's like a day trip kind of place from Leeds!

See this www.highways.gov.uk/roads/projects/7500.aspx

They conclude that it be of ecocnomic benefit for the dualling to go ahead but more studies are required. Report dated 2005. This is the HA we are talking about, things never progress quickly and funding from the Goverment is the final stumbling block.

As an example of how long things take, I worked on the Mottram Bypass after leaving college in 1989, after delays, cancellations, etc.. it still hasn't been built and has been delayed again due to The North West Regional Assembly becoming involved in the scheme and putting their 2 pence worth in. So more local involvement means more delays and more hell for local residents, brilliant! Funding has been granted beyond 2010/11 and its due to open in 2015, a full 26 years later.
