Report on the news this morning that it is to be double white lines along the whole length. A great drivers road to be turned into a procession of cars doing 32mph behind a motorhome. Sad day frown

nooooooooooooo! has this been authorised or is it proposed?

May council meeting minutes...

4) Traffic Issues
Mr Marr listened to other concerns re traffic raised by those present. Meeting agreed there was no longer anyone calling for a reduction in speed limit in Main Street and that the main issues were the dangers of turning into either of the two junctions off the B1257 when following vehicles were apt to overtake, and emerging to discover a west-bound vehicle was being overtaken. Mr Marr said requests to have a continuous white line system would be rejected and pointed out that this section of the B1257 has the “hazard” broken white line. PC Glen Goodwill, who was also in favour of a continuous white line system past the junctions, pointed out that the stretch between Broughton and Swinton was the only section for some distance that vehicles could overtake. Others pointed out the fast speeds. But Mr Marr said NYCC would only spend money “where people are being hurt and not where bits of metal are being bent.”

According to the news it's happening. They'll be doing it in sections but the whole length will be complete by next summer

there are better roads very close by anyway that are almost unknown to the busy bodies with white paint.

To be honest, it looks lovely and open but a bit bumpy for the lower cars.

does it really matter if they double white line it, nobody sticks to the speed limit so may you as well still overtake

seems the b1257 is doomed regardless of the white line issue, all the notes ive seen point towards greater police presence on that road and reducing the limit on it to 50 and introducing speed cameras.

I cant believe the road doesnt already have cameras on it, the amount of people that have been killed on it.
Far too obvious a choice now, due to the presence of the law.
They dont call it the Helmsley TT for nothing!

theres a similar bypass near where the railway meet is thats had several high speed accidents and a couple of recent deaths on that i cant believe doesnt have cameras on too.

I know where that is smile

Just be careful of the sheep, and don't get too settled in when you stop for a pint at the top.
