gauging opinions new year run???
Discussion
hi ladies and gents, just wondering how early is too early to start the runs up again? was thinking about doing a run in early feb so we can catch up and see who's put on the most weight over the new year and who got the worst christmass jumper!
way i see it is we have 3 options, im happy to do all of them so feel free to voice honest opinions infact i insist on it...
fix a date and risk bad weather (option to cancel if really bad).
keep the date late notice (EG: wed notification for a sat run) and run it based on weather forcasts.
calm down, wait till the weather improves and do it then.
run involves quite a jaunt to the north (high octane fuelling stop incorporated) but promises roads like snake pass without the traffic....edit: and will be run at a reasonable hour (not before 10am meet) due to lack of traffic on the roads.
Certainatly nothing like the bolton abbey jaunt before you ask. Anyone wishing to take a peek ask and ill forward the route(so long as i know you).
I await your opinions!

Sunday 10 Feb is Riponian Rally. Don't know your route but theirs will be around Ripon, Thirsk, Sutton Bank, Helmsley and Pickering I would have thought.
Worth a watch instead of trampsing about in the cars?

It's all about the hump at Lightwater Valley....ooo err!
certainatly seems like there is enough interest, what ill do is start organising specifics later on, the route is more or less sorted, will firm it up and post it out to people so they know what the crack is as soon as i know, it is an epic one thats for sure! More detail to follow once ive had chance to firm the route up. (gorra talk to a couple of ph'd ers who've made reccomendations first.)
sounds silly but who's got the shortest range on a tank?
Scotch Corner would be the ideal meeting place (...told you its epic for a yorkshire jaunt!) and the loop would bring us back there. Can someone confirm that those services sell high octane petrol please?!
ill post this on northwest forum when i have firm details of the who's and how's etc.
seems most seem to prefer to have a fixed date and sod the weather, if needs be and the weather is REALLY bad, ill send out a group email on say friday morning and knock it back a week.
keep your eyes on your inbox's guys!

Told you ... the weather doesn't normally put the likes of me and Stu off

However, a 10am meet for a Sunday daytime drive and you are going to hit traffic. Far better to start at 7am and be finished by 10am just as all the Sunday fresh air drivers are filling their Thermos' up.
No pain (sleep deprevation) no gain

In full hoonage I have about 150 miles range, but am only 20 miles from Scotch Corner in the 1st place.
There is a Shell garage 500 yards before A66 turn off North bound on the A1, seem to think Scotch Corner is Esso?
