NEW A64 Camera

Looks like the Threatened Camera in Seacroft is due soon. It will be on the "dip" just east of the Red Lion. The Power/control boxes are there and some painted lines are down. The setup looks like it's for a pair of Truvelo unit's. Not where I would have expected to halt accidents as they happen either due to peds crossing near the Car wash or cars coming out of the Thorner turning. However it's a spot where cars do naturally accelerate down the hill. Cash Cow perhaps!!!

Truvelo's now in Situ. Painted Grey at the moment so who knows if they are "live". Also beware a Grey Vectra on the West Yorks Motorways. Saw it pulling an identical civilian Vectra on the M1.

Aye saw these today. Conveniently I was in a line of slow moving traffic anyway heh. They're not bright yellow either, dowdy grey against the backdrop of Leeds - they didn't exactly jump out hehe!

Noticed something when checking them over. They will only be useful in the winter. The one pointing back towards Leeds has already got branches crossing the lens. When the leaves come out they'll get a lovely Infra Red picture of leaves.

NEW Update Another two popped up at the weekend. These are between the Seacroft Rounabout and the Red Lion. Just around the Car Wash. I cannot see where the sensor lines for these are.

This is just after 4 being installed on Kirkstall road in a 1/2 mile stretch where I've never seen an accident in 10 years!

Just wait until you get past them the road from The Carpet warehouse to the A1 is entertaining. Alternatively go up the Wetherby road and take the first right after the Shell down the NSL to the 30 before the Mini roundabout. Turn right and back into NSL then right at the top until you reach the A64. Trouble is waiting at the Junction.

Both pairs of Cameras are now painted and have the Blanking plates removed so most be presumed to be "active". However It is still a great overtaking spot as the numpties drop 10mph as they hit them!!!

think it's a bit cheeky there are no speed limit signs before the first cameras (in the dip from york direction), it's a 50 (if it's not i'm in trouble!) given they are usually strewn around like confetti nowadays, result is people slamming on to 40 mph, not too clever.

Yep it is a fifty from the Roundabout until the Carpet Warehouse. Either side of it is NSL!!!!!!

Does mean that you could use the signing as a defence in court tho.

It is a common excuse that is used... usually the --- - I went left up such an such a road therefore pulled out at x junction and got zapped by the camera. Therefore not warned beforehand as didn't drive past speed limit sign. There are several variations on this theme. If you hunt around you will find out the correct distances by which drivers must be notified.

One of the lawyers (dodgy ones that is) favourites as I understand it. Meaning the answer to your question could be a yes dependant on the distance and route taken via signage.
