Anyone seen whats happening on the A64 this afternoon/tonight? There must of been...

1 Unmarked Mazda 6 mps, very very discreet in grey.

I thought it was a traning exercise, but it looked like they had pulled someone towards York.

great to see ANPR vans on north leeds ring road too, excellent news IMO, weed out the insurance/tax/MOT dodgers, make the roads safer and cheaper.

A64 = cruise control @70mph for me, and has been for a few years back, it's like shooting fish in a barrel for the enforcers...

Thats the answer to reducing congestion, on the news tonight,57% cars not taxed or insured in Bradford,28% in Sheffield,a similar figure in Halifax Hudddersfield, and 5% North Yorks.This is a very serious crime which seems to having been ignored until recently. I suppose its to be expected with all the dross thats here.I only hope the Police get them all off the road asap and despatched to the scrap yards

Safer? Probably. Cheaper? I very much doubt it. Any money that government saves seems to disappear straight into the 'brown hole'. We certainly don't see better public services or lower taxes because of a saving that has been made elsewhere. Any money the insurance companies make will no doubt manifest itself in a dividend hike for the shareholders. Let's face it, as a legal obligation motor insurance is tantamount to a tax, so where's the incentive to companies to pass any saving on to the customers? I'll be glad if the law takes steps that reduce the chances of me being killed, but I wont expect to find myself richer as well!

It was the same yesterday too. Seems like the cops are really targetting the A64 at the minute there was a car every 500m from the A1 to York.
It was mental...and boring.

A)a car hits you, it's not insured and it's unsafe without an MOT (perhaps that's why it hit you), you have loads of heartache and end up out of pocket
B)a car hits you, it's insured, everything's easier

That's pretty good compared to some forces. By the way the database is the DVLA's.
