Apprenticeship job

Just thought that I would mention it on here that the company I work for, Outokumpu Stainless, are looking for young apprentices. We're based in Sheffield, just off the M1 next to Meadowhall. The place that used to have the big Stainless Steel Bison stood next to the M1 motorway.

The place involves lots of laboratory work, with all your college fees in the required subjects paid for, whilst earning a wage. Its the way I was trained and got my current job with the company, and works really well. Whilst my old school mates stayed on at 6th Form and had a part time job if they were lucky, I had a great start to working life, a wage, college fees paid.

You would be working 4 days a week and have day release at college 1 day.

Best of all, you get to work with a fantastic guy who really knows his stuff and is full of whit... me!

Ideally we're looking for applicants from 16 years and up who have completed their GCSEs.

Its at that Magna place round the back. Its worth a bob or two that thing as its made from rather thick Stainless plate. And its a Bison!!!! not a bull.

Not on an apprentices wage! Its usually the bit after that!

either way, not too shabby! personally im not sciency enough to do it, us Quantity Surveyor types tend to stick to counting and arguing about the price of things!

Jonty - do you know what your companies like with regards to graduate schemes etc?

Do they ever take undergraduates on placement years/work experience?

Yeah both. Graduates for sure and i think they still do the sponsorship with summer placements.

One of my freinds would like to know the pathway and what kind of level you can reach and in how long ect, and also the kind of money he could expect?

I guess aprenticeship. He is 19 has gcses, pretty decent ones.

Left college after first year has been working in sales since.

Well I started when I was 17 and had GCSE's. The initial qualifications you aquire through the apprenticeship are the ONC (2 years) followed by HNC (2 years). At the same time at work you will be gaining experience and do an NVQ2 in engineering, followed by an NVQ3, with key skilss level 3. That would then gain you your apprenticeship certificate.

If after that you wish to carry on your education, the campany allws you day release and usually pays the fees for part time degrees whilst in full employment and on full wage.

I know manier young blondes but unfortunatly I dont think they woudl have the skill set.
