British Heart Foundation rides, dig out the wallet........
Discussion
For those of you fortunate enough to have already been bombarded with my request for sponsorship already, I apologise. If you're not aware of my annual plight with a bicycle read on.....
Since about 2001 I've done annual bike rides in aid of the British Heart Foundation. The first was a ride from Sheffield to the NEC after a drunken bet with a mate, since then I've raised over £4,000 for the BHF taking part in various rides they organise.
Well this year I've got a single 29 mile route in the Peaks on Sunday 27th Apr followed by a 55 mile route over near Halifax on Sunday 11th May. This ride includes the longest single incline in the UK at over 6 miles up Cragg Vale. For those of you that know me and my thirst for beer and Hamlets you'll understand that this isn't going to be the easiest of tasks.
My aim this year is to raise over £1k, to achieve this I need to raise £500 which HSBC (my employers) will then match. A few of you have already sponsored me for which I'm very grateful, just £5 pledged will raise £12.80 after the £4£ and Giftaid. I've created a webpage, www.justgiving.com/phildbennett which has details of the rides. Just think of me on those Sunday mornings, whatever the weather, struggling up the hills of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Cheers,
Phil

Well the first ride is tomorrow, just a leisurely 29 miles out in the Peaks which takes in a wonderful climb through Stanton In The Peak. A well named village on the top of a horrible hill.
The weather forecast is shocking, it's heavy rain all day which makes for an enjoyable few hours in the saddle. So while you're all enjoying a nice morning cuppa, catching up on MOTD and waiting for the GP/LMES/WSBK to start please think of me.....and then donate to the BHF.
