Good roads near York?

Hello chaps. I'm spending 3 nights staying in York (YO24 1QF, Dringhouses to be precise) on a course next week. So rather than retiring to my room or the bar I thought I might have a little hoon one evening while I'm in the area. It would be rude not to surely? 
Rather than just scanning the map for any interesting looking squiggles within range I'd welcome any recommendations for good roads from locals. Only stipulation being I can get to it and loop back to the hotel within approx 1hr.

a64 - Malton. RT just over bridge into Norton, quiet b road with good vis. overtaking opportunities and sweeping bends, all the way to buttercrambe / stamford bridge area. Its my preferred route back from pickering to york bypass. HOWEVER you should give yourself some extra time and do the A169 to Whitby & back
Within an hour of the holiday inn 
If you head up Tadcaster road to the big roundabout where Tesco is, take a right there towards Woodthorpe, over the railway bridge and across the mini roundabout, about another two miles down Moor Lane, over the roundabout to Askham Bryan. From there follow signs for Tadcaster and Wighill, those are some nice twisties ideal for a 172. When you get to Tadcaster go through the town, then left past the brewery and towards Sherburn in Elmet. Thats a good little road and you can go as far as you want before turning back, on the way back turn right before you get to Tadcaster and take the road for Church Fenton, again some nice twisties. Eventually you will rejoin the A64, take the exit for Askham Richard and head back to Askham Bryan and the way you came in.

When you get to Driff (ring-road roundabout), spin round and come back.
Pull over at the top of Garrowby Hill and admire one the best and biggest views of god's country.
The road is open and wide with sweeping bends, undulations, perfect surface and one of the most famous inclines in the country, with plenty of overtaking places for getting round the caravans, grandads,etc.
You'll do it in about an hour return from the edge of York.
Take the A166 to Driffield, up over the Wolds.

Superb!!Had a fairly clear run and the descent and twisties on the return were great fun. That is one fast road. Did get "done" by an old Astra though
He obviously knew the road but even so I was'nt willing to blindly follow him into sweepers a 1.1 leptons. Drove the route recommended by Mark Mullen last night too. You guys really are spoiled for good roads around here. So many long straights!
