Need to replace the daily runner as it is about to become a non runner, will not pass the MOT and it doubles in value every time I put half a tank of fuel in.

Great cars and they respond very well to a little tweaking. Much more civilised than the Subaru or Mitsubishi imo as an everyday runaround.

Wouldn't be my choice as I don't like depreciation, I prefer cars about 6yrs + in age for that reason. The car is nice, I've driven one and they are good fun and as stated very tuneable believe the engine is the t5 engine out of the volvos.

But for that amount of money I'd be looking at older 911s, boxters, M3, Audi tt, bmw 850, Merc Sl, or any of the dozens of other interesting cars available for under budget.

It's a lotta money for moderate performance IMHO, but a cracking chassis by all accounts. Colour's not my bag either, but whatever floats your boat

What about an MZ3? Loads cheaper, loads faster, oversteer for breakfast, lunch & dinner and the best inline 6 - period!

For an everyday schlepper that is exactly my reasoning. You could get a mint Jaguar XJ for under 33k for some good old fashioned relaxing wafting ... or why not an XJ convertible? Still cheaper than that Focus.

And it keeps the weekend toy that bit more special.

Have had:-

Impreza x 3, last was a P1, had an Elise 135r, had a Noble M12 GTO3R, had a Noble M400 (530).

Got a 996 GT2 and a Clio Cup 197, proper with slicks and sequential box.

Need an everyday car that can do the miles and have a little fun.

Thought this might be the one.

Quite like the ST myself but wouldn't have opel fruit orange as a colour prefer them in white with the blue graphics on the side. Audi A3 another option, like a golf gti with better looks.

I see people enthusing about those 147s but to me they look a couple of generations behind, and their dynamics just can't touch those of the ST's.

Just had a look on Ford's used car locator thingy, they are coming in at this price from Ford main dealers too, so I would want quite a lot knocking off one from a non-Ford seller.
