Howdo

A group of us are planning on heading upto York for the Shambles Ghost Walk, next saturday evening, but we've no idea where's best for parking...cheap/free?

Got two vehicles going which will be there for around 2 hours yes

Any help would be great

There are a few car parks in/near the centre, which would be about 5 minutes walk from the Shambles, parking is only about £5 or £6 for the day IIRC. They are well-signed.

York car parks

The Haymarket one is nearest to The Shambles and is open 24 hours. You will notice however, that when you view the map location you'll see another, called 'The Shambles' car park, which aint on the link - what a shambles eh wink

Fees for non York residents are £2 after 6pm usually.

Park At the castle car park.

So head towards Cliffords Tower, or Hilton. This is where the nearest car park is.

Most car parks are £2 after 6pm till 8am.

Marygate is probably the nearest.

Actually thinking about it Haymarket is slightly nearer. Marygate would be easier to get to comming from the direction of Leeds though, its literally straight off the A19 from the northern ringroad.
