Who remembers Redgates? I haven't lived in Sheffield since I was 7, so some of you may have more recent memories. As a child, to me Christmas meant Redgates!

I've done a bit of Googling, and there's not much on the web. I'm hoping some PH'ers might have some personal memories or photos they could share.

I remember Redgates very well, I used to visit it on a Saturday in the 60s when my Grandmother used to take me, I always used to head for down stairs for some reason, late in the 70s my Grandmother move in to a house on the same road as who we called Mr Redgate, he was the owner of Redgates but never found out if that was his real name.
I also remember the under pass, that's gone too, in fact most of Sheffield has changed now, must be nearly 40yrs ago since I was at Redgates though.

Mum used to work at Redgates before she got married (late 60's), we (my sister and I) used to have the odd trip round the shop when we behaved.
