Looks like you`ll get a few yards up the road past the short dual carriageway section at the roundabout so you can queue up again on the single section for the next 6 miles.

At least it will be possible to head west on the A64 comming from the 1237 on a bank holiday. I spent abput 90 minutes stuck in traffic trying to get to that roundabout (realised i should have gone the other way after half an hour but too stubborn to turn around) and as soon as i got there i went straight round and on my way, 99.9% of the traffic was heading to the coast and i had to wait all that time just to get to Bishopthorpe. My mates went through the city centre and beat me by an hour!

Apart from the bit of dual carriageway between Hopgrove and Tadcaster, all the A-roads leading into and out of York are a disgrace, and totally inadequate.

Why they don't get rid of the roundabouts and put a few flyovers in god only knows. Why didnt they make the new roundabout a flyover run dual carriageway up there. There is the space.

Absolutely.

All they need to do is keep the local traffic separate from the through traffic.

Clearly shopping developments etc, are more important than inconveniencing thousands every day, as the council and government rake money in from them.

The ring road (BY-PASS) should run over the top of everything else.
Local traffic has dozens of choices of routes to sort themselves out on.
People wishing to by-pass York only want one....the fastest, and therefore the most cost-efficient and beneficial to business, the environment and the country as a whole.

I don't think road planners have driving licences or use cars.
Certainly they have no understanding of commerce and economics.
