Anybody know where is best to go for some logs for the stove??

They burn well, but they're a pain to cut up.

Try contacting local farmers, National Trust properties, look on eBay, local tree surgeons, find a shop that sells fireplaces and ask them.

But they are FREE.

Chopping them up is good exercise too.

I wouldn't give up on an offer like that, free things at the moment shouldn't be given up.

I'm sure the last house out of Huby on the left
from Harrogate has a sign in the field about logs for sale

If no luck then repost as I regularly pass a house in Guiseley
with a similar sign again with a Harrogate STD code on it

Yep, place in Huby sells logs, sign is easily seen from main road.

Come and collect.
A couple at a time or car/van load should be no problem,
we usually have various sizes or damaged ones that we can't use.

Well they are for my mum more... I mentioned them and she said she might just buy a load of wood in for this winter (logs already chopped)...
She has 100 acres of land with plenty of old dead trees, I told her to get the chainsaw out but I think she just wants to do it easy this year

I've got loads of wood in South Elmsall. Come and collect as much as you want. 100 year old stuff from the face of the building, burns all sorts of colours and for hours.
